Friday, 18th January, 2008

LAST year we told you that former Hollywood action superstar, now California state governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, was expected to visit the country. We have since confirmed that his first ever visit to Africa will be in Uganda in June this year.

Word reaching us is that tourism state minister Serapio Rukundo will lead a five-man Ugandan delegation to United States next month to brief the Austria-born Schwarzenegger of the Terminator fame to sort out protocol issues with his people.

A source in the minister’s office says Rukundo is very happy about the visit, as it will not only help boost the tourism sector but cast the country in the international spot light as he is expected to be accompanied by journalists from major international news networks.

While here, we hear, Schwarzenegger will launch the Perlwood Movie Academy at the Uganda Empowerment Centre in Buziga and visit several other American funded projects.
